In memory of DSC Member Sarah-Ann Shaw, several events focusing on service and civic engagement will be held across Boston on June 20th.
A Book Drive will be held at the Boston City Year headquarters, at 287 Columbus Ave, Boston, MA 02116
- The event planners are hoping for 50 volunteers and at least 300 donated books
- From the organizers: “Join us as we host a book drive and perform volunteer activities. We will be building five small free library boxes and packing kits for Boston’s children to increase summer reading opportunities. Bring new or gently used books or donate funds for a specific book that is suggested by the Boston Public Library for children’s summer reading. It is a wonderful way to honor a woman who was dedicated to lifelong literacy, and who viewed education as a road to achievement and a path to equity.”
